Emergency treatment for strangled dog

Strangulation can take your pet away from you in a few minutes! Dog owners would naturally want to keep the pet safe. The dog owner’s well meaning precautionary measures though can go off course and deliver harm to the pet instead. A dog owner that leaves a leashed pet inside the car with the windows open would do so to prevent heatstroke but never imagine that the pet would die of strangulation instead. Another dog owner would tie the dog on a pole to prevent the pet from going out on the road can find the pet strangled as it tried to jump over the fence. Dog First Aid – Unconsciousness

A pet that has lost consciousness is one of the frightening situations a pet owner would experience. “Don’t Panic. Keep Calm”! Dog owners know this is necessary in times of emergency but keeping calm would be very hard to do if the pet appears to be dead. Treated and loved as the baby of the family, a dog that got sick or one that fell unconscious will make the whole family panic.

Dog First Aid – Vaginal prolapse

A dog with prolapsed vaginal tissues would be a gruesome sight as this health concern would cause the swollen vaginal tissues that cannot be contained within the vagina to spill out and appear like a donut or lifesaver protruding from the vaginal lips. Some breeds of dogs are genetically predisposed to vaginal prolapsed although the condition is more common in unspayed females. Vaginal prolapse is often seen in Labrador Retrievers, Boxers, Mastiffs, GSDs, St. Bernard and in other large dog breeds.

Dog vomiting first aid treatments

Dog owners are not really worried if the pet vomits. Vomiting is a common occurrence in dogs thus owners are not really anxious about the condition of the dog. Dogs are known for their huge appetites. Dogs eat very fast. In the wild, a pack of dogs will be able to consume the prey in an instant. The habit of eating too fast was attributed to scarcity of food. Gulping down food is an ingrained canine habit as in spite of the food regularly provided by owners, dogs would still eat fast. A vomiting episode will occur when dogs eat too much or too fast.

Symptoms and treatments for shock in dogs

Shock can be the cause of death of your dog. The word shock in humans denoted surprise or astonishment but in dogs this word indicates a different meaning. In dogs, the insufficient blood circulation can result to shock, a life threatening condition. With normal and sufficient blood flow, the pumping of the heart is not disrupted because the blood pressure is maintained and the blood vessels are kept open. But once blood flow is compromised, all the vital organs of the body will not receive the normal amount of oxygen it needs thus the organs will not be able to function normally. Shock is a life threatening condition thus a dog owner has to administer first aid treatment to save the life of the pet.

Do NOT Fetch Fido

At last and eventually I have the honor of reading about a Vet who has brought to light in a local newspaper the perils of throwing a stick for your dog. Did you know that dogs suffer more injuries from chasing and catching sticks as they do from accidents on our great British roads.
