Boredom is one of the most common reasons why your dog will dig holes all over your entire yard. If you want to ensure that random holes do not appear all over your lawn, then you should do something to prevent boredom from setting in. A good way to alleviate boredom is to spend some of your free time with him on a daily basis. You can do this by playing or talking to him or brushing or petting him.

Some cases of dog digging can also result from the scents coming from your yard. These scents are used by dogs to interact with the surrounding area. Your canine might dig holes in your flower bed or vegetable garden in order to find out a little bit more about these scents.

If you want to prevent random holes from appearing in your flower bed or vegetable garden, then you might consider putting a sprinkler in this area. You should turn on the sprinkler whenever you see your dog digging in a forbidden area because when your dog gets hit by the water he will probably run away. By being persistent with the sprinkler, you will force your dog to come to the realization that he should stay away from this area.

Most likely there will be holes dug under the fence surrounding your property if the digging problem is really bad. It is very common for dogs to dig holes under your fence. There are good reasons why holes will appear in this area.

The first reason is because your canine may want to just go out for a walk which makes sense because all canines want some exercise. A second reason your canine might want to dig a hole under your fence is because your dog might find something in your neighborhood such as another dog or a smell really appealing and want to get to it.

If you are worried about all of the holes under your fence, you should stop worrying because there are some different methods that can fix this problem. One method you can try is walking your canine around the neighborhood everyday. This method is the easiest and most affordable one. You will give your canine the chance to satisfy his curiosity about a smell or another dog if you let him explore the community.

Even if your dog does not dig, walking him everyday is a good idea. Just because it is a good form of exercise for dogs and it gives you and your dog some more time to get to know one another.

If the previous suggestion does not provide a satisfactory solution, then you could try pouring concrete into the base of your fence. The concrete will make a formidable barrier once it dries. He will have a such a difficult time trying to dig through the concrete that he will give up the digging because he will want to save his nails and eventually realize it is an exercise in futility.
