How Can I Correct My Dog’s Barking Behavior
No dog owners would welcome the fact that their dogs are always barking at the inappropriate moment. If your dog is barking late at night just to warn you that there are someone behaving sneakily just outside your house, then it is probably alright. But no one likes to hear a dog barking non stop. Not to mention your neighbors, but you will probably get very annoyed too. Therefore, as a pet owner, it should be your responsibility to make sure that your dog goes through the proper training to correct their undesirable behavior.
Barking is probably one of the few more common problems that dog owners have to deal with. However, there are many ways you can use to correct your dog barking behavior.
Practice Leaving Home
One of the main reasons that people have to stop dog from barking is because the dog will bark constantly whenever they leave the home. If this is true in your case, then you are going to want to practice leaving the home. Say goodbye to the dog but make sure that you do not make it a huge dramatic event.
By doing that, you are actually giving your dog a reason to bark. So, all you should do is simply to give your dog a quick kiss and waving goodbye before you begin leaving. To stop your dog from barking, here is what you should do. Pretend to leave the house. Once you are standing outside your front door, see what happens. If your dog start to bark, then wait for about 1 minute. Then, you can open the door and tell them no in a very stern manner.
While You Are Away, Give Them Something They Can Play With
To prevent your dog barking, you might want to give your pet something he can play with. It can just be a play toy or a bone. What is important is that they have things to play with while you are away. If they do not get bored, then they may not bark.
These are both great tips if your dog has a problem barking, but if you need to stop dog from barking there are lots of other things that you can do as well. Some dogs will catch on right away and will stop barking as soon as you start training them to but others are going to take some time. Just make sure that you have patience and that you are very stern with them so that they know you mean business here because they need to know that you are in charge.
Crate coaching is important for lots of dogs, not only during housebreaking but for any time that your dog needs to be unsupervised in a scenario where they would misbehave, or when you only need to be left all alone for a bit.
