Socialization is a ability that should be trained throughout a dog’s life. Different situations and circumstances can influence a dog and he can change from warm and friendly to shy, anxious or even aggressive. Let your dog become familiar with other dogs and other animals. You can take him to a park or a doggie daycare or even just call in on friends who have pets. Be sure that your dog has had all of his shots first but it is central for his socialization to get together with others.

People who turn up to your residence frequently should all be well-known to your dog. That would include the mailperson. Introduce them and let your dog get familiar. If it is possible make sure that you take your dog around many different people, as it will increase his social skills immensely.

Dogs are natural pack animals and they will recreate the pack in their new-found home. This means that it is essential that humans are always seen as the prevailing member of the pack.
