The Wrinkly Faced Yet Good Hearted English Bulldog

When others view this dog as the ugliest of breeds, there are those who hail it as the most beautiful dog inside and out. The English Bulldog, despite varying comments, definitely manifests a disposition that made him a well-known and well-loved pet of families in the world today. Despite its supposedly brutal and deadly ancestors, it is today a gentle and warm- hearted creature.

Many people perceive the English Bulldog’s pug face, stocky body, and stout height as unacceptable oddity. Its coat, short and smooth, comes in colors of red brindle, solid white, solid red, fawn or fallow and piebald. Observing its gait, it has this sidewise and shuffling motion that is attributed by its loose joints.

The English Bulldog’s ancestry traces back to the bull baiting days of 15th century England. During those times, bull baiting – a violent and barbaric killing game between a dog and a bull- was a favorite sport of royals and commoners. The dogs used for these games are the cross-breeds of the Mastiff breed, an enormous and brutal war dog, meaning these bull dogs too are unrelentingly vicious and fatal.

As bull baiting became illegal in England, these fighting dogs were transported to America and Germany and they helped with the inception of the Boxer breed. Meanwhile, the dogs that were left in England were bred with the pug dog and the result became the modern day English Bulldog. The cross-breed of the bulldog and pug dog was not violent at all and in fact, was only limited to dog shows if it ever was to join competitions.

This breed is docile but can be quite determined at times and extremely loyal to its human family. It is equable with other animals and is affectionate and excellent with kids, however, it is not an entirely energetic kind of dog. Truth is, the English Bulldog loves to laze around and just stay indoors.

During its puppy days, this dog is quite a handful for it is overly spirited but as it grows older, it becomes tamer and calmer. It would rather stay inside the house and sleep than waste energy in the outdoors. This dog is also quick to overheat and so make sure you dont leave it in a hot temperature room or space.

It also looks funny and adorable, too, when it sleeps for it is prone to drooling and snoring. Caring for and cleaning of this breed is also easy as it only needs a regular brushing with a rough cloth. Be sure as well not to over indulge it with food for it will completely neglect exercising.

During hot weathers, be sure to powder his fold and wrinkles in order to refresh him and help him cool down. Despite its wrinkly face and stocky body, the English bulldog is only all good bones. Even if it came from a breed of vicious and fatal dogs, it managed to become the opposite of them.

There are many things a family or individual should consider before setting out to look for French Bulldog puppies for sale. This particular breed, although strong and stocky, can also be somewhat bull-headed and hard to train at times. They are also loud snorers because of their nose and mouth being smooched together.
