Is my Dog Food Safe? Is it Killing my Dog?

“Dog food is killing your dog!” That’s what recent headlines have proclaimed. People want to know: Is my dog food safe? Many commercial brands have been recalled. Dog owners don’t know what is in the food they are feeding their dogs. Have you tried to read a dog food label lately? Did you understand it?

Look down the list of your commercial dog food, and you will likely see something that sounds like “meat meal.” Want to know what that is?

Would you believe meat meal is made up of dead dogs and cats? Animal shelters and highway road crews send their euthanized animals and their “road kill” to rendering plants. Often the animals are still wearing flea collars, ID tags, and some are wrapped in plastic bags. This delightful stew is then rendered down to make meat meal, or its equivalent.

Dogs and cats have been riddled with cancers of all sorts because of being fed a diet of this carcinogenic dog food. For years veterinarians have seen the shameful results of feeding our pets tainted food. Tumors in animals are reported in numbers never known before.

Natural homemade dog food provides a healthy alternative. When you make your own dog food with healthy ingredients, you know your dog food is safe. Some people may initially balk at the idea of preparing dog food, but find out it is really a simple thing to do.

Natural homemade dog food can be prepared once a week and frozen. The ingredients need not be expensive. In fact most people actually save money making safe dog food at home. Hundreds of recipes are available both in books and on blog sites. It is no wonder that more and more pet lovers are opting for this method of providing their pet with natural home made dog food. They no longer have to ask: Is this dog food safe?
