Purebred Dogs, Mixed Breed Dogs And Hybrid Dogs

People have long had a love affair with mixed breed dogs or “mutts”. These dogs tend to vary quite a lot in size, looks and disposition, even when they come from the same set of offspring. Mutts frequently have very good healthiness and they make great pets.

A mutt is a dog that is a result of an unidentified lineage. They are not of one individual breed and it is usually unknown if there parents are of purebred status. Mutts have an unidentified origin and a questionable hereditary line.

On the other hand a purebred has two parents of the identical breed. Many times there are extensive and well kept records concerning the lineage of these dogs. Breeders are wary in their breeding activities to make sure that they bring into being the strongest character in their dogs.

You may choose a purebred for a pet or you may prefer a mutt. A mutt will usually have resilient health and they do make wonderful pets but a purebred has particular individuality that are bred in. There also is another choice that you may take into account and that is the hybrid dog or the “designer dog”.

Hybrids are a cross of two purebred dogs from two distinct breeds. They are separate from a mutt because their ancestry is well-known. Each of their parents are purebreds with inherited lines that can typically be traced back many generations.

Designer dogs are becoming fairly popular recently and rightly so. They tend to have the top characteristics of two different breeds and oftentimes they are the greatest of both breeds. They can take on the personality of each breed or sometimes both breeds.

The hybrid dogs are usually called really comical names that are a mix of both breed names such as a puggle, a mixture of a pug and beagle, a poogle for a poodle and pug, cockapoo for a cocker poodle blend, a goldendoodle which is a poodle and golden retriever combination and of course many others as the list of combinations goes on and on.

The designer hybrid dogs make impressive pets and you usually end up with the best of two breeds. They tend to have strong health and they are clever and enjoyable to possess.
