The Way To Successfully Train Your Young Dog
Educating a puppy takes a whole lot of time and patience. Furthermore this is not something that you can achieve in a matter of days or weeks – it will take months. The trick to getting the most effective results from your little pup is to be firm with it but not deal out any physical punishment.
Being abusive with your puppy will do nothing but have an adverse effect in the relationship as time goes on between you and your pet.
Infant dogs just don’t know how to respond or what to do when you punish them, even lightly. It doesn’t know what you want and when you do this, you are not only hurting your little puppy but also training it to fear you. This is not the effect you want I’m sure.
The explanation for this is the fact that dogs when young, do not know how to associate pain with bad behavior, unlike fully grown dogs. Remember that puppies that have just come into the world are curious and are discovering new things everyday. They also start their teething period and may have very sensitive teeth and so they chew your things. As it is already confused enough, by hitting and terrorizing it, you are just adding to the confusion.
You might think that punishing your dog with a light smack is fine. It might not hurt so much but it will terrify the life out of the infant dog and if you continue to do this, it will eventually learn to steer clear of you whenever it sees you, and you’ll never form a close bond with it.
Yelling at it is the next thing you should avoid doing as well. While yelling doesn’t inflict pain, it does inflict terror (if you shout loud enough) which is scary enough for a baby dog.
Instead of yelling at it to stop doing something, look your dog in the eyes, tell it in a firm voice to ” stop ” then physically remove it from its present location.
Finally, treat a your little one just as you would with a human being. Be gentle and show it kindness, and never display anger in any way, either vocally or physically. Follow these rules of conduct and you’ll surely end up with a loving dog who will always serve and protect you.
